To be eligible to apply for a Texas Real Estate Salesperson License the individual must be a citizen of the United States or a lawfully admitted alien, eighteen (18) years of age or older and a legal resident of TEXAS.
Determine your educational needs or call CELI and Texas A&M University-Commerce @ 1-888-333-3735 for help in determining this. Each applicant is required to complete four mandatory courses (120 hours) plus one additional core course (30 hours), for a total of 150 hours WITH the appropriate college credit OR four mandatory courses (120 hours), one core course (30 hours), plus two additional core or related courses (60 hours), for a total of 210 hours WITHOUT the appropriate college credit.
Order and complete your requirements with CELI and Texas A&M University-Commerce.
After completing your requirements, send a copy of your transcript(s) and/or certificates along with the "Evaluation of Education Documents" form to The Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) to be evaluated. This is a required step before submitting your application to take the state test. There is a $30.00 fee for this evaluation by TREC. This evaluation is good for one (1) year.

(Adobe Acrobat reader required)
You will receive a letter from TREC stating you have completed the requirements and can now submit your application to take the state test.
You need to determine at this time to get an ACTIVE or INACTIVE license.
An ACTIVE license requires you to submit the "Request to Sponsor Salesperson" form along with the application (an additional fee required).
An INACTIVE license requires no additional forms at this time.
The appropriate fee will be listed on the TREC form and how it should be submitted.
An incomplete application WILL NOT be returned for completion. A letter will be mailed requesting the additional information.
The state examination must be passed within six (6) months from the date the application is filed with the commission office.
You will receive a Candidate Information Brochure (CIB) from TREC which lists available testing locations, sample questions, general information about the state test and a toll-free number to call to schedule your testing date.
Just remember one thing, it is not how you obtained your education, it's how much you retained during your education. The quality of the program, not the price, makes all the difference in the world. Pass the state exam and enjoy your new career in REAL ESTATE.
