Order and complete your pre-licensing requirements with CELI and Texas A&M University-Commerce. The Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) has increased the number of education core hours required to apply for a Professional Inspector license without a sponsor. Effective January 1, 2005, you are required to complete
448 hours of core licensing education.
Send your Evaluation of Education and Experience along with the $30 fee to TREC. Also include any copies of prior education or experience.
Send your Application for the Professional Inspector License State Exam along with the $60 fee to TREC.
You will receive a Candidate Information Brochure (CIB) from TREC which lists available testing locations and a toll-free number to call to schedule your testing date. Pass the State Exam within 6 months of filing your Application. You must make a 80% or better on the exam. If you fail 3 times you must wait 6 months from the last fail date to reapply to take the State Exam.
