Real Estate SAE & MCE Courses

Do you need to renew your Texas real estate salesperson or broker license? To renew either of these licenses, first determine if your license renewal is in Sales Agent Apprentice Education (SAE) or Continuing Education (CE) status by viewing the descriptions below titled: “Texas SAE (Sales Agent Apprentice Education) Courses” or “Texas CE (Continuing Education) Courses”.

SAE (Sales Agent Apprentice Education) Courses

For those applying on or after 09/01/2012: All active AND inactive salespersons, who are under the SAE requirement must show evidence of having completed a minimum of 90 hours in core real estate education plus 4 hours of Legal Update I and 4 hours of Legal Update II during the two year license term, so that a total of 278 hours have been completed by the end of the second year of licensure.

CE (Continuing Education) Courses

Continuing Education (CE) – Active Sales Agents who are not subject to SAE requirements are required to complete CE for an active license renewal. The CE requirement is 18 hours, in which 8 of the 18 hours must consist of Legal Update I and Legal Update II.

Once you have determined your continuing education requirement, make your course selection from the appropriate course offerings and select the course you would like to complete. Take advantage of the convenient home study courses offered and complete your education requirements on YOUR time and schedule.

In addition, if you have a Broker’s license, or are a designated supervisor, you are required to complete the 6-hour Broker Responsibility course as part of the 18 hour requirement.
