Real Estate SAE & MCE Courses


Do you need to renew your Texas real estate salesperson or broker license? To renew either of these licenses, first determine if your license renewal is in Salesperson Apprentice Education (SAE) or Mandatory Continuing Education (MCE) status by viewing the descriptions below titled: “Texas SAE (Salesperson Apprentice Education) Courses” or “Texas MCE (Mandatory Continuing Education) Courses”. Once you have determined your continuing education requirement, make your course selection from the appropriate course offerings and select the course you would like to complete. Take advantage of the convenient home study courses offered through Texas A&M University-Commerce in association with Continuing Education for Licensing, Inc. (C.E.L.I.) and complete your education requirements on YOUR time and schedule.

SAE (Salesperson Apprentice Education) Courses
For those applying on or after 09/01/2012: All active AND inactive salespersons, who are under the SAE requirement must show evidence of having completed a minimum of 90 hours in core real estate education during the two year license term, so that a total of 270 hours have been completed by the end of the second year of licensure.

MCE (Mandatory Continuing Education) Courses
Mandatory Continuing Education (MCE) – Active Salespersons who are not subject to SAE requirements are required to complete MCE for an active license renewal. The MCE requirement is 15 hours. At least 6 of the 15 hours must consist of a three hour legal update course and a 3 hour legal ethics course, created for and approved by TREC.
