Do you need to renew your Texas real estate sales agent or broker license? To renew either of these licenses, first determine if your license renewal is in Sales Agent Apprentice Education (SAE) or Continuing Education (CE) status by viewing the descriptions below titled: “Texas SAE (Sales Agent Apprentice Education) Courses” or “Texas CE (Continuing Education) Courses”. Once you have determined your continuing education requirement, make your course selection from the appropriate course offerings and select the course you would like to complete. Take advantage of the convenient home study courses offered through Continuing Education for Licensing, Inc. (C.E.L.I.) and complete your education requirements on YOUR time and schedule.
SAE (Sales Agent Apprentice Education) Courses
For those applying on or after 09/01/2012: All active AND inactive salespersons, who are under the SAE requirement must show evidence of having completed a minimum of 90 hours in core real estate education during the two year license term, so that a total of 270 hours have been completed by the end of the second year of licensure.
CE (Continuing Education) Courses
Continuing Education (CE) – Active Sales Agents who are not subject to SAE requirements are required to complete CE for an active license renewal. Effective January 1, 2016, Licensees subject to CE license renewal requirements must complete four hours each of the TREC Legal Update I and Legal Update II courses (8 hours combined) as part of the required CE, for a total of 18 hours.
