How To Become An individual Real Estate Broker in Texas
Candidates for a broker license must satisfy the following education requirements:
- Principles of Real Estate I
- Principles of Real Estate II
- Law of Agency
- Law of Contracts
- Promulgated Contract Forms
- Real Estate Finance
- Real Estate Brokerage (completed not more than 2 years before application)
- An additional 630 hours in related qualifying courses or CE courses
* A candidate who holds a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university will be exempt from being required to complete the additional 630 hours.
In addition to the educational requirements, candidates must also meet TREC’s experience requirements which include at least four years (48 months) of active experience as a licensed real estate sales agent during the 60-month period preceding the filing of the broker application. The experience must total 360 points and be reported on TREC’s “Qualifying Experience Report for a Broker License” form; A transaction identification list for each transaction clamed on the experience report must also be included.
